Goat Kid Ordering Information
We accept deposits of $100.00 (USD) per kid ordered, and if a kid is offered for sale, the first deposit received assures first choice on that kid.
We reserve the right to decide not to offer any kid born, if we decide to retain it for our own herd, even if we have accepted a deposit previous to the kid being born. If the kid is not born or we decide not to offer it for sale, your deposit may be transferred to another kid or refunded. If the kid is offered for sale and the buyer chooses not to take it after having had a reservation, the deposit will not be refunded or transferred.
We prefer to ship kids at five to six weeks of age, since at that age they are best able to adapt to a new home environment. The price of our kids includes ADGA Registration fees, but does not include health certificate (required for out of state shipment, usually $95), shipping crate ($80 to $100, depending on size), or shipping costs.
We do not charge a delivery fee to the SFO International Airport if the kid can be shipped on one of our “Shipping Days”. We try to ship multiple kids at one time to cut down on gas and labor costs. If you kid requires a special trip to the airport, a $100 delivery fee will be charged.
We will compare airline prices to find the most reasonable shipping price to your destination. Cost varies but ranges between $365 and $500 depending on crate size, weight, and where the kid is shipped. We prefer to ship kids at 4-5 weeks of age. Most buck kids are shipped in a #400.
Most airlines will NOT accept COD shipments anymore, so we pay the shipping cost on our end. Registration papers will be provided to you the owner as soon as possible after the final balance (usually the shipping fee) has been paid by the buyer.
If possible, we encourage you to pick up your kid at the farm so that you can visit the herd. Purchasing a kid, especially sight unseen, is an expensive investment and we want you to be pleased with your purchase. We will give a frank and honest evaluation via phone or e-mail, but we do not send pictures of kids under 10 weeks of age.
If needed, you can choose to have us raise your kid to weaning age. We charge an additional $250 for this service.
Artificial insemination is one of the best tools that we have for rapid genetic improvement. Unfortunately, much of the goat semen being marketed at this time is sold on the basis of pedigree only, without waiting to evaluate actual progeny. Our policy is to refrain from marketing a buck’s semen until after we’ve had a chance to evaluate milking daughters. If you purchase a Compañeros, Redwood Hill, Sartyr, or Vineyard View buck kid, we ask that you agree to refrain from advertising or marketing his semen until after you have been able to evaluate his daughters in milk. On any buck kid that we sell we reserve the option to purchase 20 units of semen at the cost of collection.
